Objective
To obtain an impression of the maximum
denture-supporting area of each jaw, including specific anatomic landmarks.
Instruments & Materials
a.
Patient's chart
b. Gloves, mask, and eye protection for patient & student dentist
c. Radiographs
d. Water bath heated to 140 degrees F (60 degrees C)
e. Hanau torch and matches
f. Assortment of edentulous trays |
g. Mouth
Mirror
h. 2 X 2 gauze sponges
i. Impression compound 3 cakes( if doing compound tech.) or Alginate
impression material and red utility wax (if using Irreversible
Hydrocolloid).
j. Knife, Bard Parker with sharp No. 25 blade
l. Spatula and rubber bowl. |
Preparation
a. have all instruments and materials ready before patient's arrival.
b. Heat the water bath to 140 degrees F (60
degrees C)
c. Seat the patient in the upright position
and protect the patient's clothing with a napkin
