Fabrication of Remount Jig ( Occlusal index) : Prior to delivery appointment

The facebow remount jig is used to make an occlusal index of the maxillary processed denture. This is a time save procedure for you because you do not have to make a new facebow record at the time of delivery.

Equipment and Material:

a. Processed maxillary denture.

b. Articulator

c. Facebow Remount jig

d. Mounting stone

e. Bowl and Spatula

f. Petroleum Jelly

Procedure:
a. Get the maxillary processed complete denture from the lab before  finishing and polishing

b. Place the Facebow remount jig on the lower member of the articulator

c. Verify the incisal guide pin is set at zero

d. coat the occlusal surface of the maxillary teeth with a thin layer of petroleum jelly

e. Mix a small amount of mounting stone and place on the Facebow remount jig. Make sure that the stone covers the three dimples on the surface of the Jig.

f. close the articulator so that the maxillary teeth make shallow , well-defined indentation in the plaster with the incisal guide pin touching the incisal guide table. Be very careful not to lock the teeth into the stone index with an excess of plaster. Add or rearrange the unset plaster as needed to assure a shallow, even contact with the teeth.

g. Allow plaster index to completely set. Verify the maxillary teeth can be repositioned into the indentations. Label the index with the patients name and date and store it in a safe place.

h. Now the maxillary and mandibular denture are ready for finishing and polishing procedure.
