Patient Visit 5 CLINICAL REMOUNT AND OCCLUSAL REFINEMENTS You should have already prepared your maxillary and mandibular remount casts and mounted your maxillary remount cast using the face-bow remount jib. Your next procedure will be to make a new centric relation record to be used to mount the mandibular denture and its remount cast on the articulator. You can then adjust any occlusal irregularities on the articulator much more easily than in the mouth.
Equipment and Materials: Procedure 1. Apply a very thin coat of petroleum jelly to the posterior occlusal surfaces of the maxillary denture and place it in the patient's mouth. Use a rigid recording material, (ZnOE paste, Aluwax) to make a centric relation record. Place the recording material on the patient's mandibular denture and carefully make the new CR record. 2. Gently guide the patient into centric relation. When the recording material is firm, remove the denture. Trim the record and replace it in the mouth to verify it is correct

3. Have a faculty member verify your record is accurate prior to mounting the mandibular cast. 4. Mount the mandibular remount cast using the mandibular denture and the new centric relation record. Lengthen the incisal guide pin appropriately to compensate for the thickness of the recording material. 5. After mounting the mandibular cast and before commencing with the occlusal adjustment repeat the CR recording procedure. Replace the dentures on the articulator and verify that the record id correct.
Upper and lower remounted to articulator 6. Adjust the occlusion using selective grinding principles. Be conscious of maintaining the established vertical dimension of occlusion. 7. Keep the remount casts after the placement appointment. If the patient is experiencing difficulty they may be used for an additional remount using a new interocclusal record.
