Patient Visit 5 - Placement of Dentures (3 Hours)

 

Objective

To provide the patient with a complete denture prosthesis that is in physiologic harmony with the oral environment by adjusting the tissue-bearing surfaces, remounting clinically, adjusting the occlusion, and educating the patient in the proper care of the dentures.

a. Patient chart
b. Gloves, mask, and eye protection for patient and student/dentist
c. PIP paste, brush and pad
d. Articulating paper
e. Handpiece, slow speed
f. Fast-cut acrylic stones and large carbide burs
g. Tongue blade
h. 2X2 gauze sponges
i. Maxillary and mandibular complete dentures stored in water
j. Maxillary and mandibular remount casts, maxillary cast mounted on the articulator and graded by one of the faulty
k. Bowl and spatula
l. Articulator
m. Mounting plate
n. Recording medium for centric relation record
o. Written patient instructions


Preparation

a. Properly disinfect the assigned operatory and obtain starting check.
b. Have all instruments and materials ready before patient's arrival.
c. Seat the patient in an upright position and protect the patient's clothing with a napkin.
