Free Oral Cancer Exams Offered -- May 1st

March, 2009

As part of Oral, Head and Neck Cancer Awareness Week, FREE oral cancer exams will be given by the College of Dentistry’s oral surgery and oral pathology faculty and residents from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Friday, May 1st.

Anyone with a history of heavy drinking, smoking, or smokeless tobacco use has an increased risk of developing oral cancer. Symptoms that often go undetected are lumps in the neck, sores in the mouth that won’t heal, red or white patches in the mouth or throat, persistent neck or ear pain, a sore throat that lasts more than two weeks, or difficulty breathing or swallowing.

Early detection is key to surviving oral cancer, so come for a FREE exam in the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Clinic on the 2nd floor of Postle Hall at 305 W. 12th Avenue in Columbus.

* No appointments are necessary, and no fees will be charged. *
