ADA News Features Oral Cancer Expert Panelists -- Including Dentistry’s Representative John Kalmar
The most recent edition of the American Dental Association’s principal publication, the ADA News, featured an article about a recent expert panel discussion held at the ADA Association headquarters in Chicago. The aim of the April 13-15 meeting convened by the American Dental Association (ADA) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention was to develop effective oral cancer screening recommendations for health care practitioners.
Dentistry’s Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery John Kalmar was among the panelists that included nationally recognized experts in oral cancer, as well as representatives from ADA councils and selected physicians and dentists from academia and the public health sector.
A Diplomate of the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, Kalmar also serves on the Research and Scientific Affairs Committee for the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology, and he holds a position on the editorial Board of Oral Surgery, Oral Medicine, Oral Pathology, Oral Radiology and Endodontics.
As a participant in the recent oral cancer screening discussions, Kalmar and the workshop's other expert panelists analyzed relevant data and examined the efficacy of an array of current oral cancer-related screening and treatment methods.
