Congratulations to the Classes of 2011!
The College of Dentistry’s Convocation Ceremony was held June 5th in the Mershon Auditorium. The traditional ceremony honored the achievements of the Dental Hygiene and the Doctor of Dental Surgery (D.D.S.) classes of 2011.
This year’s event featured a convocation address by Dr. Thomas Matanzo, President of the Ohio Dental Association (ODA), who spoke about the opportunities and benefits afforded to members of the ODA and other professional dental organizations. Dental Alumni Society President Brett Pelok also spoke at the event, reminding the 2011 graduates to keep in mind the lessons learned in their dental education programs, while also reaching for new levels of knowledge and success as dental professionals.
College of Dentistry Dean Carole Anderson presented awards and certificates of honor to members of the classes of 2011, which included 104 D.D.S. graduates and 40 Dental Hygiene program graduates.
In her farewell remarks, Dean Anderson said to the newly graduated students, "This is both an end and a new beginning for you. Your days as students are over, and you're embarking on new careers as dental professionals. As you move forward to achieve your personal and professional goals, you have my heartfelt wishes for a future that includes a wonderful life and a career that is both successful and rewarding!"
