Dr. John Kalmar Collaborates on Research Published in JADA


“Managing the care of patients receiving antiresorptive therapy for prevention and treatment of osteoporosis” was the cover story in the November 2011 issue of the Journal of the American Dental Association.

 

Dr. John Kalmar, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs and Graduate Studies, collaborated on the research that produced the November 2011 cover story in the Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA).  

The article, “Managing the care of patients receiving antiresorptive therapy for prevention and treatment of osteoporosis,” is a review of osteonecrosis of the jaw in patients with low bone mass receiving treatment with antiresorptive agents.

The article is based on a report from the 2008 advisory statement by the advisory committee of the American Dental Association Council on Scientific Affairs.

The recommendations in the article relate to general dentistry; periodontal disease management; implant placement and maintenance; oral and maxillofacial surgery; endodontics; restorative dentistry and prosthodontics; orthodontics; and C-terminal telopeptide testing.
