Dr. Peter Larsen to Hold Peterson Endowed Professorship through September 2015

The Larry J. Peterson Endowment celebrates the life and accomplishments of their friend and colleague, the late Larry James Peterson, DDS, who passed away in 2002.

Dr. Peter Larsen, professor of oral and maxillofacial surgery, is the first to hold the Larry J. Peterson Endowed Professorship in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.

"I am honored to be the first recipient of the Peterson Endowed Professorship,” Dr. Larsen said. “Dr. Peterson was my mentor and friend. He loved Ohio State and the Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery Residency Program. I know he would be proud that his former students, residents, colleagues and friends chose to honor him by funding this endowment.”

“Dr. Peterson was my mentor and friend."

The Peterson Endowed Professorship was created through the generosity of the College of Dentistry’s alumni, friends, and faculty members as a way of celebrating the life and accomplishments of their friend and colleague, the late Larry James Peterson, D.D.S., who passed away in 2002.

“I will work hard to ensure that my receipt of this award will bring recognition to Dr. Peterson, the division, and the college in a positive way,” Dr. Larsen said. “I trust that in doing so, the program that Dr. Peterson loved will be further strengthened."

This professorship is the second endowed faculty position in the Division of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, joining the D.P. Snyder Endowed Professorship. The division continues to raise funds for the Morgan Allison Endowed Chair in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, with hopes of completing the fund by 2014.
