College Welcomes New Graduate Students

Division of Endodontics Professor Alfred Reader (front row, center) welcomed the division's new group of graduate students at their July 10th orientation.

Each summer, the College of Dentistry welcomes newly arrived, first-year graduate students with an annual reception attended by faculty, staff members, and senior graduate students.

This year’s reception was held July 10th in the Grand Lounge of the Faculty Club, where students were officially welcomed by Associate Dean of Academic Affairs John Kalmar, Dean Patrick Lloyd, and faculty representatives from the college’s divisions and clinics.

"It’s important that we acknowledge the contributions and commitment these students make..."

The college welcomed 40 new graduate students who will begin their training in  specialty programs that include dental anesthesiology, endodontics, oral and maxillofacial surgery, oral pathology, orthodontics, pediatric dentistry, periodontics, prosthodontics, general practice residency, and oral biology. The college currently educates a total of 98 graduate students whose experience and expertise augment the care that is provided to patients.

“Our graduate students enrich our programs and they enhance the clinic experience for our patients,” said Dean Patrick Lloyd. “It’s important that we acknowledge the contributions and commitment these students make as they advance their education and focus their expertise in the specialty areas. We are glad to welcome these new students to our college!”
