Dr. Carl M. Allen is Professor and Director
of Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology in the Section of Oral and
Maxillofacial Surgery and Pathology at the Ohio State University,
College of Dentistry. Dr. Allen received his DDS from Ohio State
in 1975, and trained in oral and maxillofacial pathology at
Indiana University from 1978 to 1980, earning his MSD from IU.
As a faculty member at OSU since 1980, Carl has been active
in seeing clinical referral patients as well as participating
in the biopsy service. He has been a Diplomate of the American
Board of Oral Pathology since 1983 and completed a six-year
term as Editor of the American Academy of Oral and Maxillofacial
Pathology. He currently serves as President of the Academy.
Dr. Allen has published over 75 refereed articles in dental
and medical journals, and is a co-author and co-editor of the
textbook, Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology by Neville, Damm,
Allen and Bouquot, which is now in its second edition.
